Brittanie's calm, steady and joyful personality help make those around her feel safe and at ease. This gift has allowed her to connect with and help many people in this lifetime. She is living a life of service and accepts all opportunities to help others. She is forever grateful for Sri Dharma Mittra (her teacher) and her supportive family, especially her husband, Christopher, and their dog, Molly, for the chance to do life's greatest work on a daily basis - relate to other beings (relationship).
It was in 2004, about halfway through her 4-year career in the music industry, that she began to finally connect the dots --- physical symptoms, such as headaches and digestive problems, which had plagued her almost all her life, are the bodies way of speaking up. The body is saying "HELP! We have taken on more than we can handle and we need a break." In other words, when you are running in overdrive, even when you think you've got it all under control, your body is going to tell you when you've reached your max capacity. It always does.
How can we resolve these symptoms and reduce the impact of stress? We need to learn how to BE RECEPTIVE - listen, rest, and make lifestyle adjustments so we can be more at ease.
Brittanie works with clients using a variety of modalities: Yoga, Pilates, Breathing, Mindfulness, Meditation, therapeutic applications of movement principles, and more.
For those really interested in mitigating stress and improving life balance, she is here to help you. The process is not easy and takes some time - it isn't a quick fix. In fact, it may be one of greatest challenge you'll face in this lifetime But, if you commit to it and you put in the work, you will begin feel connected and in the flow of life, more connected to the rhythm of nature and more in touch with your real sef, almost immediately. Why? Because intention is everything and you are in charge of your own life.
Brittanie has been helping people in the field of Health and Wellness for 10 years. Throughout this time, she has taken on myriad professional roles and is grateful for the ability to constantly adapt the course of her work as she grows and develops her own self. She is also grateful for the opportunity to have worked with people from all walks of life - those with disabilities, a variety of ethnicities and races, members of the LGBTQIA community, children, seniors, pregnant women, cancer patients, those rehabilitating from surgery or injury, the poor, the wealthy, the middle-class, and all possible shapes and sizes. She's coached people through huge life transitions (weddings, career shifts, moves) and helped many on their path to weight loss and wellness. All these experiences have helped her improve her compassion and continue on her overarching life goal, which is to see herself in others and be kind to all with no exceptions.
Before beginning her work in the field of Health & Wellness, Brittanie was an Executive Assistant to a Partner at Music Law Firm (Davis Shapiro, NYC), Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Business Affairs (Island Def Jam Music Group / Universal Music Group), and Director of Operations of Music Law Firm (Davis Shapiro, NYC & LA). This corporate experience helped her both understand her current clients who work in a similar setting and also prepare her to work with Executives and in corporate settings.
As soon as Molly gets out of bed, she goes straight to the yoga/meditation room and does her exercises. She rolls around on the carpet for a few minutes and then rests for a minute or two. Because it is a short and simple practice, it is sustainable and therefore she doesn't miss a single day! #belikemolly
Chris is Brittanie's #1 Supporter. You'll find him helping out in the classroom and on the retreats from time-to-time. He has been a yogi his entire life, even since before he knew about yoga. He is patient, kind, and steady. Without him as her rock, Brittanie would never be able to help anyone.
When Brittanie met Dharma in 2010, she knew that she found someone special. This humble man has taught her everything she needs to know about how to be a good person. His lessons are simple and his presence is love. Go see him when you can. He teaches weekly in NYC! www.dharmayogacenter.com
